In July 2004, the Montreal Expos asked Orlando Cabrera what he thought about playing third base for a couple of months. The Angels were one of three teams trying to trade for Cabrera, but unlike the other two - the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox - the Angels wanted him to play third. Troy Glaus' shoulder surgery had left a void there.
Cabrera's response?
"(Heck) no," he recalled.
Two years later, Cabrera's stance has softened somewhat. He said he would welcome the addition if the Angels were able to swing a trade for All-Star Miguel Tejada, but he still can't imagine changing positions.
