Miguel Tejada raced out of the parking lot at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in his yellow Corvette, hurrying past autograph seekers, a cellphone in his hand, heading toward an uncertain future. As Sunday night closed, though, it appeared that Tejada's destination was remarkably similar to his current address. On the eve of the trading deadline, it appears the Baltimore Orioles, 8-7 winners over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, are leaning toward retaining their star shortstop unless any of the three teams involved in trade talks makes an overwhelming offer by Monday's 4 p.m. deadline.
