Scandal: Right after Mark Foley was revealed to have had inappropriate e-mail conversations with a 16-year-old page, he resigned and checked into rehab. Now, what did Democrats know, and when did they know it?
I think this is a question that needs to be asked. What exactly did the Democrats know, and why did they not say anything before? If it is discovered that the Democrats have known about this and allowed it to continue just to use it now right before an election, then this could severely backfire on them.
I will agree. First, however, let's dispense with the matter at hand. Let's get rid of the current culprits who seem to be mostly Republicans. Then let's get to the rest of the pack. If we diffuse our anger by extending our blame to everyone, then no one will feel our deepest ire.
I'll agree. Set priorities for our anger. Foley first, for he is certainly the one worthy of almost all the blame. And then if we have anger left over we can shine that in the direction of the Republicans who may have covered it up, and the Democrats who may have kept it a secret until election time.
Yes, asking this question of the whole House, and not just of majority members, is the right way to go.
I get the feeling, however, that this article is just as, if not more, interested in dredging up the same old similar-yet-totally-unrelated events from, what, twenty years ago? I really fail to see the connection. Have so many present Congressmen have been re-elected eleven times?
