Vinemeet East - Exploratory Committee

After the initial Vinemeet in Columbus and with Vinemeet West underway, I think it may just be time to start considering a Vinemeet for the East Coast, aka the center of the universe with all the best cities, culture and sports. Lets show them all that we have the best newsviners as well ;-)

I'm proposing the Vinemeet for either Philadelphia or New York City. The actually location(s) within those cities to be determined later. Both cities offer more than enough attractions and more importantly places to drink.

I feel that we should plan this for later September or October, before the weather turns. We can kick things off on a Friday, have a main event on Saturday and recuperate on Sunday.

So let me know if you are interested, which city works for you, what weekends work for you, and if you have any specific ideas for what we can do. Also, if you live in or really close to either city and can host a few newsviners who may be traveling from a bit further away that would be great!

I remember Scott Butki (I think) starting a thread about a Vinemeet in the MD/VA area, but I'm not sure what happened to it. DC seemed to be the preference of most. New York and Philly are great locations, but they do slant a bit towards those who happen to live in the northeast rather than the entire eastern coast.

I'd go. I'd prefer it to be in New York but I'd have no real problem going to Philly though it would depend on the expense of the activity (i.e. I would not be able to afford to rent a cabin on a lake with a hot tub and bbq grill...).

I think this will probably be Novemberish from the comments (rather than late September/early October). We'll get more time to plan, plus hopefully Celestina will be able to come and keep her streak of attending all vinemeets alive.

So is anyone still tracking this and interested in a Vinemeet East? Just to get some potential numbers and preferred dates? Also, would you be willing to chip in a bit to rent a place? We likely wouldn't get anywhere near as elaborate as Vinemeet West (we East Coast Viners are inherently entertaining... we don't need to spend money all that excess to be entertained) but probably the cost of the room/condo/whatever.

I think Early November is actually best. It gives us a month to plan, but it is early enough to not interfere with the holidays or get crappy NE weather.

Wherever we have it, I definitely think we need to rent out a place or something similar so we can all be at one place at one time with relatively privacy for at least one day/night. If we do it in a city and everyone wants to break off to do the city afterwards that would be cool.
