Get Tackled Here - Week Six Recap

advertisement

Hello all you out there in fantasy football land. Welcome to the weekly recap of newsvine's own fantasy football league, Get Tackled Here.

For the players, feel free to use the comment thread for trade talk, league talk, and general trash talk. That's right, if it is related to fantasy football, consider this thread COH-free. Trash talk away!

someone's Black & Blue - 67.49 over Adam Hobson's The Commish - 40.36

The one week I need Brett Favre to do something, the one week... Every other week he can ride the pine, just this one I need him to perform and he turns in the Pumpkin that was Favre circa 2005.

HonkyTonk's Pagan Turtlecesters - 77.08 over TomPitysFools's StrongDudeArchetypes - 60.85

1 Adrian Peterson. 233 total yards. 3 touchdowns. 1 week six victory

Sheil Naik's Make It Rain - 89.61 over Fast Eddie's The 'I' in Team - 76.07

You think 89 and some odd points is a high score? Well consider that Sheil started two running backs on a bye week. And Deion Branch didn't play. It's not even like Chris Chambers or Larry Fitzgerald did much of anything. It must be nice to have Tom Brady, Tony Gonzalez and the Baltimore Defense.

ajs's Melchizedek's Mafia - 64.11 over Kyle B's The Elway Project - 4.40

John Elway called. He no longer wants his name associated with this travesty of a fantasy football team.

mikeomatic's Mangelers - 79.55 over gecko85's Gecko's Army - 58.82

I'm taking a wild hunch here, but I'm thinking that mikeomatic is pretty happy that Tomlinson is back to being Tomlinson. Who wouldn't like 200+ total yards and four scores just about every week from one player.

Eric Atienza's The Replacements - 63.62 over Andrew Min (formerly Online Apps)'s Da Geeky 11 - 35.87

I think Andrew may have given up on Drew Brees a game or two too early. Eric, I'd have more to say about your victory, but your freakin' kicker had the most points on your team by far.

Current Standings

  1. Black & Blue : 6-0-0 : 445.57
  2. Make It Rain : 5-1-0 : 434.77
  3. Melchizedek's Mafia : 4-2-0 : 429.03
  4. Pagan Turtlecesters : 4-2-0 : 383.54
  5. The Replacements : 4-2-0 : 361.17
  6. Gecko's Army : 3-3-0 : 405.51
  7. Mangelers : 3-3-0 : 401.18
  8. The Commish : 2-4-0 : 400.34
  9. StrongDudeArchetypes : 2-4-0 : 339.12
  10. Da Geeky 11 : 2-4-0 : 318.95
  11. The 'I' in Team : 1-5-0 : 340.67
  12. The Elway Project : 0-6-0 : 183.61

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Sorry for this being a bit late, and maybe a tad shorter than usual. I was away from access to a decent computer for the past few days.

Also, Evan Mix is hosting a newsvine fantasy basketball league. Finally, someone else steps up to the plate, or would that be court ;-) I've joined and I know next to nothing about basketball. I just figure I'll take MJ with my first pick. He's still playing right ;-)

You know who you should really pick first - Mike Vick. I hear they play a lot of basketball in prison.

Thanks for the plug, Adam. We've got six league members so far (two not Viners - yet) but I'd like to get up to twelve or so if we can swing it. Andrew and Eric have already stepped up - anyone else?

Dang Kurt Warner. I get all excited now that Leinart is injured... and he goes and scores negative points. I officially hate the Arizona Cardinals.

Also, I've got two more possible injuries (RB and WR) and an RB accused with assault. Wonderful. And my TE might be injured.

So in conclusion, I could use a QB, an RB, a WR, and a TE. Oh, and if you have a spare kicker, I'll take one (I don't have a sub kicker).

NOW do you see why I'm excited that I actually won two games?

(btw Adam, can you clear my "won't trade" list? I made it before I realized you couldn't remove players from the list and I want to trade a few of them).

I don't think I can.

Wow, I just realized something. I'm still tied with Adam wins/losses wise (of course, he has 90 points more). Adam, that's just sad. Same with you, TomPitysFools.

You're just jealous because my kicker almost outscored your entire offense by himself =P

Your kicker scored more than my QB, two of my WRs, my RBs, my TE, my K, and my defense. Holy cow.
